Plant Meters

A Plant Meter is used to record usage of the Plant Item, and provides the basis for a range of functions in the plant module including the timing of required servicing.
A Plant Item may optionally have multiple meters attached to it e.g. a Kms based meter and an Hours based meter

The Plant Meters maintenance screen provides for the setup of types of meters to be used on Plant Items:

• Meter Code: up to 10 characters

• Description: up to 50 characters

• Details: up to 2000 characters

• Units: is an up to 5 character code E.g. Days. Kms

• Default Clock Value: is the normal reading at which a meter of this type will 'clock'

• (return to 0): This can be overridden for specific meters on specific Plant Items.

• Records for Assumed Daily Rate: the default number of meter reading records to be used in the calculation of the Assumed Daily rate for this type of meter. This can be overridden for specific meters on specific Plant Items. See the separate section on Assumed Daily Rate for an explanation of this process.

• Assumed Daily Rate Change Threshold: a percentage value, used as the criteria for the displaying of a warning during the entry of meter readings when a meter reading indicates a significant change in the Assumed Daily Rate. This can be overridden for specific meters on specific Plant Items. See the separate section on Assumed Daily Rate for an explanation of this process.

• Use Calendar Days: this meter is based on calendar days, and hence the service intervals for Plant using these meters will always be based on calendar days and not on variable usage readings as happens with Kms for example. Plant Items with this type of meter will not have meter readings entered, and Plant Service Orders with this type of meter will have a Start Date entered which will be unchanged by more or less plant usage. Typical would be a Plant Service Order to carry out a Warrant of Fitness check, which must be done say every 12 months.

• Protected: this flag on a Meter makes previously entered meter readings 'Read Only' unless the user has been granted the Admin Function 'Allow Change to Protected Meter', in which case historical readings can be edited.
