Plant Policies Overview

• The Plant Policy is the basis of plant servicing, either for recurring service (say a service every 5000 km) or one off servicing.

• A Policy will typically apply across multiple Plant Items. It will determine the nature of the service, its frequency and optionally the cost and required list of labour / materials required for the service. It will indicate whether the service is a recurring service or a one off.

• The Policy becomes the default values to be inherited by Plant Service Orders set up under the Policy, where a Plant service order is the specific instance of service work under this policy.

Note that the background data structure has a policy as a record in the Quotations table, as aspects of the functionality use the Quotations module functions
