Adjustments
There are 3 modes of Stock Adjustment entry.
- Stock Quantity Adjustments ('Stock Qty' batch type) allow adjustments to stock quantities, but do not change the Average Cost
- Stock Value Adjustments ('Stock Value' batch type) allow adjustments to stock valuations and hence the Average Cost, but do not change the quantities
- Stock Opening Balances ('Stock Adjust' batch type) allow entry of quantities and stock values and also update the Average Cost (and also Last Cost or Standard Cost if costing is on this basis)
In Stock Adjustment Entry double-clicking on the Quantity, Rate or Value controls, when entering a new transaction, brings up a Stock Adjustments Calculation popup form to facilitate the calculation of stock quantities and values.
Double Click on non grey portion of data screen to bring up this screen. The adjustment is for $-2.88 and it has shown the result of this value adjustment.
You can carry on making adjustments and see what the result will be.
Press OK to accept your calculation.
RETURN GOODS TO A SUPPLIER
If a stock return to a Supplier will also result in a credit note there needs to be a two step approach.
You will need to generate an AP Credit and then do Stock Quantity Adjustment to maintain the stock ledger for the quantity. If the value of the Credit Note is not at the system valuation rate then you will need to do an Opening Balance Adjustment which will allow a Qty and Value adjustment.
