Output Based Billing - General

Output Based Sales are selling predetermined outputs. This could be an output set up on the Job Masterfile as a Standard Output to be sold (e.g. a monthly maintenance fee) or specific outputs entered through Enter Job Outputs on an adhoc basis. (e.g. 10 Pot Holes fixed at a standard Rate).

A Schedule must be set up to provide the Description and Sell rate.

  • The schedule is attached to a Job.
  • Outputs are created on the Job based on the schedule and these are then sold.

The Schedule forms the basis for either:

  • Standard outputs. These are set up on the Job Masterfile and are used for standard invoicing. It is a method for bulk creation of outputs to be sold.
  • Specific job outputs. This utilises the Job Outputs Entry screen where outputs relating to the Schedule can be entered ready for invoicing.

The same Schedule can be used for both Standard Outputs and adhoc Job Outputs.

Relationship between Schedules and Jobs:

  • You can have 1 schedule per Job
  • You can have more than 1 schedule per Job.
  • You can have more than 1 job per schedule.

Invoice Job
You can create a Job Invoice and through 'Get Sales' sell outputs from all the schedules attached to the Job. For a job to be sold using this method the Charge Type set up on the Job Masterfile will have to have an Output Based Billing Type. You would sell this way if you had more than one schedule on the Job and you only wanted one invoice.

Invoice Schedule
You can select a schedule and sell all uninvoiced outputs over a range of jobs. You can generate an Outputs Based invoice to a job with any Charge Type. The Charge Type only governs which job the revenue is posted to in this instance. You would sell this way if you had a schedule and outputs had been entered against a number of jobs.
