Licence Install

Contact Workbench International Limited and ask them for a licence file.

A licence is required for each Workbench instance, being each Workbench database.

The licence is supplied as a zipped .sql script file.

The script is run on the relevant Workbench database (NOT on the Workbench Licence database)

To get a Workbench Licence you will need to supply the following details:

  • the name of the SQL server instance that Workbench is installed on
  • the names of all the Workbench databases being licenced

**NOTE** It is very important that you specify which characters are capital letters.

Upon receipt of the licence file form Workbench International Limited save it into the Workbench\Licence directory on the server.

Uncompress the file into the folder Workbench\Licence

You will see that there are two files for every instance of Workbench that you have installed on your SQL server.

  • The .pdf file is a document that outlines what is in the licence.
  • The .sql file is the actual licence script that needs to be run against the database.
  • To install the licence/s you double click one of the .SQL file. This will open the SQL server Query window. Select the correct server and login. You will now see a screen similar to the one below

Note the area in the script DBName = 'XXXXXXXX'. The 'XXXXXXXX' is the name of Workbench database this licence is for.

  • Change the database in the menu from master to match the DBName

  • Click Execute

  • If the messages at the bottom are all black, then the licence was installed successfully
  • Ctrl-O will open a dialog box displaying where the other licences are.
  • Repeat the steps above for all the .SQL licence files, one per Workbench instance.
