Stock Control Accounts - Workbench provides a Stock Management module that utilises the standard Job and Activity Code structure. Each Stock Location is established by creating a job with a Job Type equal to the value in the Control Parameter 'Stock Job Type'. The GL Stock Control Account for a Stock Location is the Stock Control Account on the Additional tab on the Job Maintenance
Stock Issues
DR GL Account
- If the DR GL Account on the job has an Account Code entered, then the expense is posted to that Account Code. Note that the full code is required i.e. includes the prefix, account number (or suffix)
- If the DR GL Account on the job is blank, and the DR GL Account of the Activity Code does not commence with the '@'symbol, then the expense is posted to GL Prefix of the Job Profit Centre + DR GL Account of the Activity Code + GL Suffix of Job Profit Centre
- If the DR GL Account on the job is blank, and the DR GL Account of the Activity Code commences with the '@'symbol (e.g. @WN.01.200) , then the expense is posted to that account e.g. WN.01.200
CR GL Account
The CR will always be to the Stock Control Account for the Stock Location in question, being the full account code string for the Stock Control Account
Stock Returns
DR GL Account
The DR will always be to the Stock Control Account for the Stock Location being returned to, being the full account code string for the Stock Control Account
CR GL Account (note that we are posting a CR but to the normal DR accounts defined)
- If the DR GL Account on the job has an Account Code entered, then the expense is posted to that Account Code. Note that the full code is required i.e. includes the prefix, account number (or suffix)
- If the DR GL Account on the job is blank, and the DR GL Account of the Activity Code does not commence with the '@'symbol, then the expense is posted to GL Prefix of the Job Profit Centre + DR GL Account of the Activity Code + GL Suffix of Job Profit Centre
- If the DR GL Account on the job is blank, and the DR GL Account of the Activity Code commences with the '@'symbol (e.g. @WN.01.200) , then the expense is posted to that account e.g. WN.01.200

- A positive value transaction will DR the Stock Control Account for the Stock Location in question.
- A negative value transaction will CR the Stock Control Account for the Stock Location in question.
- If the batch is unbalanced, then the resulting write on / write off will be posted to the Stock Adjustment Account for the Stock Location in question, being the full account code string for the Stock Adjustment Account.
Purchases (AP Invoices and AP Credits)
DR GL Account
- If the Stock Control Account on the Stock Job (Location) has an Account Code entered, then the purchase is posted to that Account Code. Note that the full code is required i.e. includes the prefix, account number (or suffix). This handles purchases into the Stock Location going to the correct Control Account.
CR GL Account
- The host financials will determine the Creditors Control Account to which the CR will be posted, so this account code is not part of the export.
