Set up Plant Meters

A specific instance of a Plant Meter(s) which has previously been set up in Plant Meters Maintenance can be attached to a Plant Item
The defaults from the selected meter will default onto the Plant Item, but can be changed.

  • Meter Code; selected from the dropdown list of previously set up meters
  • Description; defaults from the selected meter
  • Reference; manually entered. Typically a Serial Number off the meter on the Plant Item
  • Clock value; defaults from the selected meter but can be changed
  • Assumed Daily Rate; defaults to 0, but is dynamically changed by the entry of meter readings during the usage of the Plant Item.
  • Start and End Dates; manually entered reference dates relating to the use of this meter
  • Inactive; is a flag that can be set when a meter is no longer used on a Plant Item.
  • Default; if Plant Meters are being used, then one of the meters listed must be flagged as the default meter. This meter is assumed to then be the meter used in the entry of meter readings for this plant Item, but can be changed
  • Max Records in Assumed Daily Rate Calc; the number of most recent meter reading records to be used in the calculation of the Assumed Daily rate for this type of meter. See the separate section on Assumed Daily Rate for an explanation of this process.
  • Assumed Daily Rate Change Warning Threshold; a percentage value, used as the criteria for the displaying of a warning during the entry of meter readings when a meter reading indicates a significant change in the Assumed Daily.
  • Meter Cumulative Life to Date; is the total of all readings on this meter, regardless of whether it has 'clocked' or had a 'change out'. This value is automatically incremented through the entry of meter readings. For a Kms meter it would be the total distance traveled by the vehicle.

Note: When a meter is first set up on a vehicle, there will be an initial meter reading. This needs to be entered as a meter reading for the Plant Item, and the total distance traveled or time run by the plant at the time of that reading needs to be manually entered into the Meter Cumulative Life to Date.
e.g. a second hand vehicle has been purchased. The current meter reading is 20,000 Kms but you know it has traveled 220,000 Kms. The Meter Cumulative Life to Date value would be manually entered as 220,000 and the opening meter reading would be entered as 20,000.
