Auto Copy Application

This module refers to Auto Copy Application within Workbench.

GENERAL FUNCTIONALITY

Relates to Versions 7.30.1 and later.

The Auto Copy Application module provides the ability:

  • to automatically update client machines with new versions released on to your nominated server.
  • to automatically update client machines when the application expands past a nominated size.
  • to manually update the client machine upon user request.

The application once installed to Workbench Specifications, can be configured to automatically update its self from the companies nominated server when a new released version is installed on that server. Additionally the application can be configured to replace its self with a fresh copy if the application file becomes too large.

There is also a menu item within Workbench to refresh the application on request as well as a Windows menu shortcut available from the 'Start' button menu as shown below.

This shortcut is always available regardless of Auto Copy Application configuration and settings.

CONDITIONS

The Auto Copy Functionality requires the following conditions for operation:

  • Either the modified date on the Application file is older than the modified date on the server copy of the Application file or the size of the Application file is over the threshold specified when compared to the server copy of the Application file.
  • No one is currently accessing the local Workbench Application (Applies to shared environments such as Citrix or Terminal Server).

Note: Auto copy will not operate if you Double click the Application file (.MDE) directly.
