We have shown that the ongoing routine is straight forward.
We will spend some time reiterating the initial set up process that is covered in depth in the Plant Management User Guide.

1. Maintain

  • Control Parameter for the Plant Job Type
  • Plant Group

  • Plant Location

Note that the Manager has to be a Plant User in the People Maintenance. It is this Manager that receives the Reports emailed. Make sure they have an email address.

  • Plant Rate Codes

  • Plant Meters

2. Create new Plant Item

3. Once the Plant Job has been created you need to

  • Enter Plant Details \ Details

  • Enter Plant Costs. This is the Rate Code for Cost Transfer Rate and Retail

  • Enter Plant Details \ Plant Meters - Accessed through Job Maintenance

Make sure that you enter the Road User Charge Activity Code on the appropriate Meter Code.

  • Plant Meters can also be accessed through Plant Meters in Meters in Plant Management

    4. Create the Plant Policies for Ongoing Routine

You will need to create at least one Plant Policy for every type of Service or action.
    Eg.
  • 5000km Service,
  • 10000km Service,
  • 250Hr Service,
  • WOF's,
  • COF's,
  • Registration

5. Set up the Road User Charges (RUC)

The concept of Road user Charges for Plant Items applies to New Zealand only.
Charges are made per kilometre travelled by certain classes of vehicle. These Road user charges (RUC's) are purchased in advance representing kilometres purchased by individual vehicle. They are applied to a particular vehicle at time of purchase.
The Plant module manages the recording of these RUC purchases, and the display of the unexpired balance of the RUC's.

  1. One meter on the vehicle will be the designated Road User Charge meter, through the attachment of a Road User Charge Activity Code to the meter. Set up the Cumulative Meters

  1. Set up the RUC's still to run through Job Adjustments

To establish an opening position there will need to be a Job Adjustment transaction entered against the Plant Item using the Road User Charges Activity Code. This opening transaction will be the Total RUC's purchased to date.
The quantity on this opening transaction will be
Meter Cumulative Life to Date plus Road User Charges unused at that time
The transaction quantity will be used to create the initial Road User Charges Balance Available.
